Quarterly Update by Sanchit Janda 04 July 2024
At GemCap, we are deeply committed to our community and mindful of our impact on our surroundings—whether it’s the place we work, the people we collaborate with, or the way we conduct our business. Our goal is to inspire others in the Funds Industry to initiate similar efforts or join our pre- arranged plans. We strive to create a positive ecosystem both within GemCap and beyond.
Here are GemCap’s updates for the 2nd Quarter in 2024:
Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day
In recognition of World Down Syndrome Day on the 21st of March, GemCap staff showed their support by wearing their craziest combinations of socks. Additionally, we made donations to Down Syndrome Ireland. We encourage you to visit their website (https://downsyndrome.ie/) for more information and to support their cause.

Funds Industry Climate Challenge
Last year, we proudly held the first-place award in the ‘Manager’ category in the Funds Industry Climate Challenge hosted by the Green Team Network and Global Action Plan. This year we participated in the second year of the challenge with great enthusiasm, finishing in second place in the Manager category. Our participation as a company led to 2,494.08 kg of CO2 emissions saved and we are keen to continue our participation in this challenge on a yearly basis to build healthy habits. We remain dedicated to maintaining our environmental initiatives and leading by example.

Pieta’s Darkness into Light Charity Walk
As highlighted in our previous blog, GemCap actively participated in Pieta’s Darkness into Light charity walk on the 11th of May 2024. Our team members, along with their friends and family, made generous donations, raising a total of €1,005. GemCap matched this amount, bringing the total to €2,010 to support those in need. For more information about this initiative, please visit www.darknessintolight.ie.
Several of our team members began the walk at 4 AM in their respective locations in Dublin and Limerick. The event was a great success, and as a bonus, some team members captured stunning photos of the Aurora Borealis the night before, which were shared with the group and boosted our spirits.

Keep Cup Initiative
We take accountability seriously and have assessed the impact of our ‘Keep Cup Initiative’ in our offices. On average, our team consumes 20 cups of coffee daily, typically in disposable cups. Over the past few months, 100% of GemCap team members have switched to using their own keep cups, preventing the use of approximately 60 disposable cups per week. We hope our efforts encourage other organizations to adopt reusable items, reducing the reliance on single-use cups. For reference, ChatGPT kindly produced a picture of 60 keep cups for us to allow us to visualise how many cups were we using per week!

Team Appreciation and Building
To recognise the hard work of our team, we organised an away day in May, featuring an overnight stay at the Cliff at Lyons in Kildare. The event included team-building activities and provided an opportunity for relaxation at the thermal spas. This retreat was a small token of appreciation for the dedication and effort our team invests in serving our clients.
At GemCap, we value each contribution and remain committed to fostering a supportive and sustainable environment for our community and the world.
